Designed to work with brushed or brushless electric fans, the controller offers unmatched flexibility and is compatible with most major aftermarket fan manufacturers. It operates flawlessly with all SPAL brushed and brushless fans and can control multiple fans from a single controller. 



Note: SPAL's brushless fans CANNOT be activated with a relay/switch setup.  The brushless fans require a negative PWM signal, which you cannot get from a traditional fan relay kit.  If your fan controller or ECM CANNOT provide a PWM signal, then we recommend using our wiring and #32-E117 Fan Controller.

Brushless Fans

Advanced Brushless Fan Control 

When used with brushless fans, the controller provides true variable-speed operation. Simply program your desired Low Temperature Soft Start and Full Power High Temperature. The controller will automatically ramp fan speed up and down between these temperature points, delivering smooth, efficient cooling while reducing noise and electrical load.

FAQ

What is PWM Control? 

PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) is a variable-speed control signal that allows brushless fans to operate at any speed between off and 100% power. Instead of turning the fan completely on and off like a traditional relay system, PWM control continuously adjusts fan speed based on engine temperature. This results in quieter operation, reduced electrical load, longer fan life, and more consistent cooling performance. 

The DeWitts #32-E117 Fan Controller provides the negative PWM signal required by SPAL brushless fans, allowing the controller to smoothly ramp fan speed from a programmed low-temperature soft start to full power at a programmed high-temperature setting. 

Unlike conventional relay fan kits, which only provide full ON/OFF operation, PWM control delivers precise variable-speed fan management for maximum cooling efficiency and performance. 

 

Where should I install my temperature sensor?

In order to get the most accurate reading on your controller, ensure that the temperature sensor is stored in a hot coolant location. These locations include: the thermostat housing, intake manifold near water outlet, cylinder head, near radiator inlet or in the upper radiator hose.
